SignalFx Sink Node
The SignalFx Sink node is not generally available in Fleak Data Workflow. The workflow builder offers it only to accounts where it has been enabled. For the connectors that are generally available, see Data Assets.
This page is retained for accounts where it is enabled.
Overview
Send metric datapoints or custom events to Splunk Observability using the SignalFx Destination editor.
Workflow Builder fields
Configuration keys below are relative to the node configuration. Use the field name in the panel when following instructions in the builder; required markers such as an asterisk are not part of the name.
Destination panel
Choose Asset Type and Asset Name first. Type-specific inputs appear in Configure Pipeline Settings after an asset is selected; an asset error can prevent that section from appearing. A missing or unavailable asset is a reference problem, not proof that the connector does not exist.
The fields listed here are the complete set of editable inputs for this Destination type, subject to the stated visibility conditions.
| Field in the panel | Configuration key | Where to edit / when shown |
|---|---|---|
| Asset Type | UI only; no separate config key | Choose a Data Asset; UI selection determines the sink type on Save |
| Asset Name | dataAssetId | Choose a Data Asset; reference to the selected data asset |
| Payload Type | payloadType | Configure Pipeline Settings; Metric Datapoints (DATAPOINT) or Events (EVENT) |
| Metric Name Field | metricNameField | Payload Type = Metric Datapoints; required to save Destination in this variant. |
| Value Field | metricValueField | Payload Type = Metric Datapoints; required to save Destination in this variant. |
| Metric Type | metricType | Payload Type = Metric Datapoints; Gauge, Counter or Cumulative Counter |
| Event Type Field | eventTypeField | Payload Type = Events; required to save Destination in this variant. |
| Timestamp Field | timestampField | Both payload types; a record field containing epoch milliseconds, or blank for ingest time |
| Batch Size | batchSize | Both payload types; required to save Destination Required: Yes. |
Metric Type is shown only for Metric Datapoints. On Save with Events (EVENT), metricNameField and metricValueField are saved as empty strings, while metricType is retained (for example, GAUGE) even though its control is hidden. On Save with Metric Datapoints (DATAPOINT), eventTypeField is saved as an empty string. Read the current node configuration for saved values; a hidden control alone does not establish whether its value is retained or cleared.
The selected asset uses a Splunk Observability connection profile (type SIGNALFX) with Realm and Access Token. Create or edit these on that profile in Settings → Connection Profiles. A generic API Key profile is not compatible with this asset. The asset creation form displays Realm read-only from the profile and stores that realm as the asset location; Default Dimensions are asset settings. In Data Assets → Asset Information → Edit, existing dimensions appear as separate inputs named after their keys. Update a value and Save → Save Changes; clearing a value removes the dimension, and this form cannot add a missing key. The Realm input is visible, but Save rejects a changed realm. To use another compatible profile, choose Connection Profile → Edit, select the profile, and Save → Save Changes; the asset derives its Realm from that profile. A replacement asset can supply a different set of dimension keys; select it in Asset Name and Save.
Payload variants
For Metric Datapoints, set the record fields containing the metric name and value, then select Metric Type. For Events, set Event Type Field instead. Timestamp Field and Batch Size apply to both variants. These are record-field selections. The Splunk Observability profile owns Realm and Access Token; the asset records the selected realm and any default dimensions.
SignalFx uses the same Destination editor in both editor modes; it has no separate legacy form.
